5 Family Pubs with Indoor Play Areas

by Sophie Cannon (follow)
Heading out for a family meal with little ones in tow can sometimes take a lot of forward planning, and it can be tricky to find a place that the kids will love just as much as the adults. Also, maybe it's just me but I tend to have to arrive fully equipped with iPads, colouring books, pens...anything to keep my little one occupied.

The Barley Farm, Eccles

So wouldn't it be perfect to be able to enjoy some tasty food together but also give your kids the opportunity to wear themselves out in an onsite play area?

Here are 5 brilliant family pubs in Manchester that also have indoor play areas:

1. The Coach House, Trafford Centre
Tucked away next to the Premier Inn at Manchester's Trafford Centre, The Coach House serves up homely traditional "pub grub" in a family friendly setting. And the best bit? The awesome Dennis the Menace themed indoor play area, jam packed with soft play apparatus including a toddler only area, tree house climbing zone, ball pit and slides. The area is fully supervised and is open 7 days per week (check website for opening times.)

Check out further details such as menus and opening times on The Coach House website.

2. The Barlow Croft, East Didsbury
The Barlow Croft is a newly refurbished eatery at the popular Parrs Wood entertainment centre. As well as providing customers with a welcoming atmosphere and great value meals, the pub is also home to it's very own Wacky Warehouse! That's right, wavy slides, ball pits and soft play galore, the kids will be begging you to visit The Barlow Croft over and over again. Even better? If you spend more than 10 on meals from Monday-Friday, kids can go nuts for FREE!

You can find out more information including prices, opening hours and menus via The Barlow Croft website.

3. Mersey Farm, Sale
Another popular Brewers Fayre pub, Mersey Farm is also home to a fully supervised Dennis themed play area. Whilst kids go crazy in the ball pit, parents can chow down on traditional and tasty pub classics, and at a great price too. Brewers Fayre pubs also offer up a bargain children's menu with mains at just 3.99, and an extra 75p for a starter or dessert. Winner!

Head over to the Mersey Farm website for further details.

4. Barley Farm, Eccles
The Barley Farm really does have something for everyone! With themed menus, a variety of 'Cakeaway' desserts perfect for any sugar craving, an on site ice cream parlour, and an awesome play room for younger guests. With brightly coloured decor, toys, games, a climbing tree house and even mechanical ride ons; the Barley Farm will be a sure fire hit with not only the littlest members of the family, but the bigger ones as well!

Check out further details such as menus and opening times on the Barley Farm website.

5. Applewood Farm, Astley
Farmhouse Inns' coming up trumps again at the Applewood Farm pub in Astley. Yummy pub classics (including a traditional carvery!), home made cakes and over 16 flavours of ice cream, yes, 16! As well as the delicious grub there is also a fully stocked play zone for the kids to enjoy, with a giant play tree, toys and games, mechanical ride ons and colouring screens, Applewood Farm is the perfect family pick!
