'Baby Bliss' is a mother and baby class run by Manchester's
Active Lifestyles , and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough! I’ve found it a great way to make new friends, and my baby loves the class! She smiles and giggles all the way through, and afterwards falls asleep.
The class starts with sensory play, introducing babies to new toys, textures, sounds and experiences. Then mums sing songs with their littles ones, doing lots of actions and involving the baby in the music and movement.
Next the babies get to enjoy parachute play, when they are placed in the middle while the parents wave a parachute above them; so colourful and eye catching for bub! Babies will also get some tummy time (great for developing strength and muscles), the chance to play with bubbles, and finally ending with a nice, relaxing baby massage.
The whole class is designed to help key areas of your baby’s development, as well as being a brilliant opportunity for mothers to bond with their little ones. But just as importantly, it gives mum the chance to meet other parents and form friendships, which can help to combat postnatal depression, and is a great way to get out of the house for a few hours.
The class is suitable from birth up to 9 months. Don’t worry about bringing baby too soon, I took my daughter for the first time when she was 3 weeks old and we both really enjoyed it. The class is very much led by the babies, so if your baby wants to sleep or feed all the way through the class - that’s perfectly fine!
