Carrington Riding Centre

Enjoyable experiences for every kind of rider

Carrington Riding Centre is situated in 450 acres of open countryside. They are a busy, yet very friendly Riding School that provides affordable lessons to both adults and children. Their experienced and friendly staff can offer riding lessons to suit all ages (from aged 2) and abilities. They pride themselves on being extremely family orientated by providing lots of activities for all the family to be involved in together.

Their facilities include one indoor school and four, all weather, rubber surfaced outdoor floodlit menages with comfortable viewing facilities and a fully stocked café. They have a range of over 50 horses and ponies and they have all been chosen for their suitable temperament. They are fully trained to ensure both the safety and enjoyment of each and every one of their customers.

We opted for the 'Tiny Tots' session that takes place at 1:30pm on a Saturday or 2:30pm on a Sunday. My little girl is 3 years old and had only sat on a horse prior to this session, so we thought this was the perfect place to start. It was a half hour introductory session where they were each allocated a pony to groom. After familiarising my little girl with 'Fuzz' we then enjoyed a short trek out in the countryside. It was a really lovely session and I led the pony throughout this time, so it was nice quality time spent with my little girl.

We are also very keen on trying out the Rosette course which is a brand new course for younger riders! The sessions last for eight weeks and they cover eight key topics which include learning how to feed, groom and tack. Every session is made up of a half hour riding lesson and a half hour’s stable and safety management. A rosette & certificate will be awarded to all achievers after the course. This is suitable for children aged between 3 and 11 and cost £15 per session.

They also offer pony parties here and they have two packages to choose from; the 'Individual pony party' and the 'Shetland pony party'. At the 'Individual pony party' children will have a half hour riding lesson and a half hour stable management session. Here each child will get to interact with our ponies (grooming etc). They are then taken to the dedicated party room where the children can enjoy a selection of catered tasty goodies!
