The City Airport and Heliport is a busy aviation airport located in the heart of Salford. It is open to the general public and it provides a hive of aviation activity, from; emergency services, flying lessons, private and business flying.

There is a great grassed viewing area with picnic benches for the family to enjoy watching the numerous planes fly in and out. If your children are plane fanatics this will keep them entertained for a very long time. They can definitely get up close and personal to a range of planes and helicopters. The historic control tower also has a balcony viewing platform to watch from a distance.
They have recently opened a new play area which features lots of great equipment for children to play on. It features swings, an aeroplane ride-on and a specially designed 'Control Tower' building with climbing net, fireman's pole and slide.The best thing about a visit here is that it is completely free. The car parking is free and the children can play to their hearts content.
The City Airport and Heliport has lots going on throughout the year. They have regular quiz nights, aircraft fly-ins, family days, car boot sales and an annual fireworks night. They have their own café and bar called Runway 26 which serves food, drinks and snacks. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of this busy and historic airport.
