We are regular visitors to Cockfields Farm in Ashton, but hadn’t tried their Christmas experience yet.
But with snow forecast, we decided to get in the Christmas spirit this weekend and give it a go.
The Farm has been completely transformed into a magical winter wonderland for this event! I had read good reviews online and I’d seen the building work and preparation on our recent visits, but it was still beyond anything I could have imagined.
We were greeted by Christmas tunes blasting out, and a group of merry Elves. We swapped our letter from Santa (received in the post a few days earlier) for our special passport and then we were ready to go.
First we visited Santa’s stables to have a cuddle with the bunnies, guinea pigs and chicks, and of course to meet some reindeer.
Next we skipped through the candy cane forest to meet Mrs Christmas in her house for a lovely story.
After, the children got to decorate and eat gingerbread men while the adults got mince pies, biscuits, hot chocolate and (alcohol free!) mulled wine.
Then we were onto the Elves’ Workshop for a bit more singing and a chance to make a cuddly reindeer.
The lovely toy is included in the price, and there is also the opportunity to buy clothes and accessories for it at the start of the adventure.
Finally it was our turn to meet the man himself - Father Christmas! He was extremely friendly and festive and - even though our toddler was a bit nervous at first - we had a little chat with him and were given a special gold coin to go and choose a toy from his shop.
The whole experience took around 90 minutes for our group but the price also includes access to the rest of the farm with large sand play area and animals to pet and feed.
We were so impressed, from start to finish. Cockfields has some of the nicest, child-friendly staff we’ve met anywhere and the Christmas spirit seems to have made them even jollier!
It was just a joy to see our daughter so mesmerised by all of the activities, and I even got a bit emotional!
We will definitely return next year and highly recommend a visit. It’s one of the best Christmas Experiences we’ve had in Manchester.
Two little things to be mindful of - the activities are undercover but it was very very cold so wrap up warm. And there is a little wait between the Elves’ workshop and meeting Father Christmas, so have a little snack or something planned to fill the gap.
