Cooking classes for 2-5 year olds, what could possibly go wrong? Well, pretty much nothing as we found out at our wonderful [Link http://www.cookstars.co.uk/ Cook Stars] Minis Class in Manchester today.
We took part in an aptly named taster session so we could get a feel for what’s on offer before signing up.
Sarah, who runs Cook Stars Manchester Central and East, was impeccably organised, plus warm, friendly and welcoming.
All of the ingredients and equipment were ready for us and our recipe was broken down into simple steps for the children to follow themselves to encourage engagement and independence.
We’ve made the odd crispy cake at home, but not used measuring spoons or accurate measuring scales before so it was great to see my daughter getting to grips with new equipment. She even cracked an egg herself!
Of course, we made a mess but it was no problem. Sarah made sure that we weren’t over worried about such things, and was very kind when my daughter had a wailing meltdown when I wouldn’t let her eat the baking powder! She came over and cheerily distracted her before moving us on.
While our cookies were baking, we had a small room with fruit, biscuits and art activities in to occupy us.
Finally, we got to have a look at our biscuits cooling on the tray before they were wrapped up in a little bag with our own copy of the recipe.
We had such a lovely time and are going to sign up for the classes very soon! I wonder what we’ll cook up next time!
Classes run at various times and venues. For more information click [Link http://www.cookstars.co.uk/our-classes/manchester-central-and-east here.]
