Jurassic Kingdom Tour, Manchester

Saturday 8th of July to Sunday 23rd of July

Dinosaurs have arrived in Manchester!

Currently at Phillips Park in Clayton, Jurassic Kingdom offers an exciting and unusual day out for all ages. As a family of dinosaur lovers, we've already seen skeletons at the museum, plus the models at Gulliver’s World and Blackpool Zoo, but the big difference here is that these dinosaurs move … and roar!

With over 30 animatronic installations, from the giant T-rex to the caged velociraptors, there are plenty of child-friendly scares. There are mini dinosaur ride-ons, and giant eggs to clamber in dotted around the park, so children do get hands on play. There's also a sand pit filled with bones to excavate, and plenty of space for playing and picnics.

Additionally, kids can enjoy a virtual reality experience for an extra charge of £4, and a ride on a small but scary dinosaur for £2.

Toilets are available onsite, plus there are several food and drink stalls which give the event a nice festival feel, though you can expect to pay around £2 for an ice cream.

It was very busy when we visited but as the venue is so large and the installations are pretty spread out, we never felt crowded. Our two year old lasted about an hour before she'd had enough, but we then spent time in the playground which is right near the entrance.

She enjoyed the experience overall, but a word of warning – the dinosaurs don't move constantly, they are quiet and still one minute, and then suddenly come to life at intervals, which lead to a few jumps and tears from the littler children. There are also a couple of installations showing dinosaurs fighting and even eating each other!

We thoroughly enjoyed it though, and I'd highly recommend it for fellow dinosaur fans, or anyone with a sense of adventure. It was roarsome!
