Knowsley Safari ExperienceA wild, fun, family day out
[Link https://www.knowsleysafariexperience.co.uk/ Knowsley Safari Experience] is home to a five mile safari drive, which is the longest in the UK. It is home to everything from cheeky baboons to magnificent lion prides. In addition to the amazing safari it offers a wide range of walking trails, animal talks and fairground rides, truly entertaining you for hours.
The 550 acre drive through safari is split up in to different zones and you will get to see animals in as close to natural conditions as possible. It takes around an hour to complete and you can go round as many times as you like, with each drive you get to experience different animals up close. You’ll see rhino with zebra, wildebeest and forest buffalo not to mention camels, nilgai and kiang bison and rhino! Part way through you have the option to go through the baboon enclosure or go through a more 'car friendly' route that doesn't get as close up. We opted for the baboon enclosure and we saw so many baboons up close and personal. It is worth noting that our car came off worse for wear though, with paw prints all over and a slightly damaged seal on the windscreen!
Once you have completed the safari drive the rest of the park is yours to explore. The Amur Tiger Trail is a new attraction and it provides a fantastic walking tour around the park. Here you will get to learn more about the habitat of the Russian tigers and watch them play and explore their surroundings. There are a number of viewing platforms and activities to complete as you go around and lots of play areas for children of all ages. My little girl loved the wobbly bridge and the tunnel viewing area that forms part of the trail.
Throughout the day they also have various shows on at the Sealion house and the Birds of Prey area. We spent 30 minutes at the sealion show and we loved it here. We spent time learning about the sealion species and saw how talented and clever these animals are. We got to understand the difference between a seal and a sealion and saw two sealions demonstrate a number of skills. Roger and Arthur were incredibly impressive and it really was an enjoyable show.
There are a number of rides and attractions at Knowsley Safari Experience including safari dodgems, a carousel, face painting and much much more. These are £2 per ride or £10 for a wrist band that allows you to go on all the attractions. Dotted around the park there is also three main play areas for children to explore.
Watch out for special offers during winter and other times throughout the year. We went recently for £20 per car for up to 7 passengers. This was an incredibly good deal as usually you have to pay per person!
