Little World For Scholars, Altrincham

by Lydia (follow)
Play and all its possibilities

Little World For Scholars has recently opened by a mother and daughter and is a fantastic interactive space to spark young children's imagination. It is based in Altrincham and offers a lovely alternative indoor option for families. Inside they have different themed areas and zones for role playing and creating stories.

Although the building is quite small it packs a lot in and there is plenty here to entertain children for the full ninety minute slot you book on to. The different zones here were really great and one of my daughters favourite spots was the vets and she spent a considerable amount of time in here. There are endless opportunities for role playing and make believe with lots of props to engage the children. With lots of medical equipment and animals my daughter truly embraced her job as a vet, washing the animals and giving them their medication.

Other areas within the centre include a shop complete with cash register and conveyor belt, lots of produce and baskets and trolleys. Children were given shopping lists to find the goods in store and this was a great way to develop exploration of this area. There is also a construction zone and airport, complete with aeroplane, luggage and microwaves to cook the passengers food. The other area here was a magical garden and fairy house which was a nice area to sit and read stories.

The owners were very hands on and engaged with all the customers during the slot, making sure everyone was enjoying the experience. There is a small café here as well with some limited seating and it serves snacks and drinks only. There are however lots of great places to eat nearby if you are timing this visit near to lunchtime. Booking is advised here as you are given a ninety minute slot and they close the building to clean in between sessions. This makes sure the different zones are well kept ready for the next set of explorers.
