Lily Parr, football's original rock star of the ladies' league, is now getting her own permanent display at the National Football Museum to celebrate her legendary status. This isn't just any run-of-the-mill exhibit; it features a treasure trove of photographs that have been tucked away in an old suitcase for a good forty years, because clearly, someone was saving them for a rainy day or just avoiding a spring clean.

Parr took the pitch by storm in the 1920s as a member of Preston's Dick Kerr Ladies, racking up nearly a thousand goals over three decades. That's right, almost a thousand – she was basically the superstar of her time before celebrity endorsements were even a thing. Not to mention she played in some of the world's inaugural women's international matches, paving the way for future generations of female footballers. And if you're wondering how to spot her at the museum, just look for the statue they unveiled in her honour back in 2019 – you can't miss it; it's the one giving all the other artifacts a bit of an inferiority complex.
