ParentFolk Weekender: Review

by Lydia (follow)
A contemporary family social event

ParentFolk are a print publication and online community for people who parent. They also happen to throw some seriously fantastic family events, which guarantee a fun-filled day out.

We were very lucky to have attended their most recent event at Claremont Farm. It was superbly organised and offered lots of activities for children of all ages to get involved in. The farm grounds were split up in to different areas and there were lots of different tents to explore. The main tent had a rock tots disco and my daughter said that this was her favourite bit. The DJs were super enthusiastic and really engaged the children on the dance floor.

There were a series of stalls in another tent offering a vast array of children's goods and wares. Children and adults could get their face painted here too at no additional cost. There was a slight queue but it was well worth it. The next tent was where the crafting happened and there was lots to do here. You could make bee headbands, paint rocks and press flowers. The craziest crafting had to be the decorating of big, brown paper sacks. It was quite funny to see older children wondering round with these on their head. There was also storytelling workshops held throughout the day, which were really entertaining.

My favourite area of the event had to be the yoga area, which offered family yoga and mindfulness for kids. As you can imagine these were busy but the instructor got everyone involved and managed the sessions really well. It felt so nice to take part in these outside yoga sessions in the sunshine. The adults in my party also loved the adult calming area, where we all took part in mini massage activities, again these were complimentary. I had a lovely arm and hand massage.

There were activities throughout the day in the woods and these were more suited to the older children. You could build dens, take part in drumming workshops in the wood, make a camp fire and do welly walks. This was perfect for young explorers.

ParentFolk hold many events throughout the year and the next one is on the 21st July, 2018. This will be held at the White Horse, Chester Racecourse. This will be the ultimate party edition, to celebrate the weekenders first birthday! They will be bringing the family social you know and love, with great food and drink, independent brand pop-ups, activities, DJ's and more.. plus some birthday party twists!
