Peaks and Pods is situated in North Yorkshire, just over an hours drive from Manchester. There are six hand crafted camping pods on this site and each comes with heating, insulation, beds and kitchens so that you are warm all year round!
The site itself is situated on a family farm and hosts stunning views of the surrounding areas. The owners are incredibly family friendly and make your stay extra special. My little girl loved opening the blinds in our pod and seeing chickens roaming in the garden.
If you are after some peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of Manchester then this is definitely the place for you. Each pod has such a warm and homely feel and there is something quite special and unique about staying here.
We were lucky enough to see in the New Year in one of the Silver Top pods; Corn Bents and we were greeted with breakfast hampers on New Years Eve with locally sourced ingredients. The owners offer a number of customised packages to suit every need from; a pod with a hot tub, fire pits and marshmallows to toast, BBQ packages and the amazing breakfast hampers that we sampled. There is a package to meet every budget.
There is so much to do within the surrounding areas for the family, especially if you want to experience the outdoors and have an adventure. We spent one of our days at Gisburn Forest and we went on the Gruffalo trail here. This is a short walk with an interactive app called 'The Gruffalo spotter'. There are also activities for children to do as they go along. You can buy a pack from the Hub cafe to use as well. We even met stickman on this trail. A word of warning though - this is not a buggy friendly route!
In February the walk will be changing to the Highway Rat trail and we are really looking forward to venturing back and seeing this one. For more information about Gisburn Forest and the Julia Donaldson themed walks find information here.
Feedback from the Facebook page:
"We had been thinking about trying a pod or glamping for a while and I'm so glad we did, Peaks and Pods was a fabulous experience. The pod was so cosy and every detail has been considered. All creature comforts thought about. The outdoor area was a brilliant idea and I highly recommend using the oven there. There is a lot to do in the area we visited the forest which was lovely. Even in October, we felt snug and away from it all. We had our 5 year old with us and he is still talking about the pod. Joanne and family were very welcoming and she even managed to post my walking boots after I forgot them - so kind! Can't wait to return. I highly recommend a visit, magical."
"What a fantastic place to stay! Amazing views across stunning countryside, friendly chickens come to say hello and then there is the pod - a home from home, made even more special by the little personal touches such as a delicious lemon cake, hot chocolate and marshmallows, breakfast hampers and delicious pizza cooked in the outdoor oven. Canít recommend it enough and we will definitely be back!"
