Peter Rabbit's Christmas Grotto

by Lydia (follow)
An immersive theatrical Christmas adventure

Peter Rabbit's Christmas Grotto at Intu Trafford Centre is a grotto with a difference. Here you get to experience the story of Peter Rabbit and Beatrix Potter’s woodland wonderland. The main characters are brought to life by actors playing the part of Peter Rabbit and friends who will share their Christmas traditions with you and your family. It is a really magical experience and one your children will remember.

Your journey starts in the burrow with Peter Rabbit who talks to you about his friends and interacts with all the children. From there you will go through a secret tunnel and be greeted by a cunning Mr. Tod. Brave children then join him in his twinkly lair and help him cook up a feast. Audience participation throughout the experience is high as children are encouraged to join in singing festive songs.

Next up you have the opportunity to decorate your own Christmas biscuit with Jemima Puddle-duck which was a great addition to the grotto. Jemima helped children make pretty patterns and even gave you a little box to take it home with you. For anyone with allergies or dietary requests you can decorate a wooden Christmas tree.

Once this has been completed children are then encouraged to make their way to the final part of the event and the star of the show. On your way you will find a talking tree. We spent a short time with Santa and all the children received a small gift. Santa was very accommodating with picture requests as there were quite a few of us there but the pictures they took were great. We opted for the picture to be made in to a bauble, which was quite expensive at £10, but was a lovely take home treat.

There are also a small number of Christmas themed stalls nearby in the parking area outside the Great Hall. These are selling food and drinks and have a few games to keep children entertained. There is a carousel here for children of all ages to enjoy.

Make your outing a full day out by visiting lots of nearby attractions including the Namco arcades. There is a soft play in the food court which is suitable for smaller children and you also have the big attractions of the Sea life centre and Legoland at Barton Square.
