A top family day out in one of Britain's greatest industrial heritage sites
Quarry Bank Mill is a fantastic day out for families, with so much to do and see you can while away many hours indeed. At Quarry Bank you can discover a complete industrial community and experience the very different worlds of owner and worker, who lived and worked here side by side.
You can have tours of the Apprentice House and wander through the Mill and see what life used to be like. On the estate there are acres of woodland to explore and there are many events held in the outdoor areas throughout the year. Make sure you follow the meandering path of the river Bollin, and cross the folly bridges as you look out for an array of wildlife and beautiful views.
The play areas here are really great spaces and there are two main ones for the children to visit. The natural play area provides lots of opportunities for children to explore in the great outdoors. With stepping stones made out of wood, dens and a huge seat made from a tree stump you will find that it will be very hard to leave this area. There is also another play area near the picnic area which is home to climbing frames, swings and a slide. .
There are lots of events held here throughout the year and the most recent exhibition was based around the book 'The tiger that came to tea'. We loved the storytelling sessions and my little girl was absolutely mesmerised throughout the reading. Other events based around the book include; afternoon tea with the tiger, yoga, crafts and nature walks. Don't forget to look at the Christmas meet and greets with Santa here.
