Get ready for a burst of colour at the exhibition, where textiles come alive like they just downed a pint of creative juice. Born in Hull in 1934 and fortunately whisked away from wartime chaos, Craven found inspiration in the stunning Yorkshire countryside and her art education at Hull College and the Royal College of Art. By age 29, she was strutting her stuff as Chief Designer at Hull Traders, rubbing elbows with other creative geniuses like Althea McNish and Eduardo Paolozzi. Talk about a talent pool.

The Whitworth is showcasing a staggering collection of over 80 of Craven's striking abstract textiles, making a grand reappearance after more than six decades of hiding in the closet. And just for kicks, they've thrown in some of her unique works from her student days at the RCA, because who doesn't enjoy a bit of nostalgia? When you're there, don't miss out on the Whitworth's engaging events and workshops aimed at the community that promise to make art feel a bit more like a casual get-together rather than a stuffy gallery affair. Plus, there's a shiny new Everyday Art School on the horizon in 2024, so you're bound to uncover some creative gems.
