Experience life beyond the stars

Spaceport is a visitor attraction which takes you on an inspirational journey through space. It is home to several themed galleries, which all seek to engage children in the mysteries of the universe. With a space dome theatre and a space ride there is lots to keep little ones busy.

The trip starts with a visit to the Space Pod where you will listen to a short video about the solar system as an introduction to the exhibition. You then enter an interactive gallery all about the solar system. Here there is plenty of hands on experiences for children to learn, feel and explore. Don't forget to ride the Cosmic Coaster on this level. This will take you on a dazzling journey through the cosmos filled with space-age imagery and futuristic fun. This runs at various times throughout the day.

Next up is the Observatory which will enable you to explore the wonders of the tropical night sky with the help of the world’s largest robotic telescope. You can also interact with the computer generated image using a touch screen ‘POD’ (Personal Observation Deck) to surf the sky and discover thousands of stars. As part of these experience you can join up the stars to map out constellations and view objects in our solar system such as Mars and Jupiter.

The Space Dome Show will allow you to see space as you never have before in a 360° dome theatre. This is currently screening 'We Are Aliens'and is narrated by Rupert Grint. These shows are on at regular times throughout the day. Upstairs they also have a Sci-fi Icons exhibition dedicated to the wonderful world of Star Wars. For any fans of the show this is a must see.

If you are wanting to make a day of your excursion here you can opt to take a ferry to Spaceport. Your adventure will start with a 50 minute River Explorer Cruise on one of the most famous ferries in the world. Or alternatively if you drive you can take advantage of the location and enjoy a trip to the beach at New Brighton. We opted to venture in to New Brighton and it took around 10 minutes to get there.
