A great place to visit this summer is Red House Farm in the quaint village of Dunham Massey, near Altrincham.
Red House Farm boasts a delightful award-winning Tearoom, full of locally sourced food at very reasonable prices, and a Farm shop which makes and sells the most incredible Ice Cream (I would recommend the Malteser flavour!)
There is a large, free play area to keep the little ones happy, which consists of two large climbing frames with slides, swings (including a tyre swing) and a couple of Wendy Houses. There is also a small track area with a selection of push-along and mechanical tractors (£1 per ride), and other novelty push along cars such as the ever popular Cozy Coupes. Kids can also enjoy a novelty mini-digger ride at an extra fee.
If you're not looking to dine in the onsite Tearoom, the park is well equipped with picnic benches, perfect if you plan to bring your own packed lunch.
School Holiday Family Fun Days
We visited Red House for the second time over the June half-term for my little boy’s third birthday, and we had such a fantastic day. The Farm hosts Family Fun Days on various dates over the school holidays, so it was a great surprise when we got there to find lots of extra activities available.
Added extras for fun days include a large inflatable slide, climbing wall and a range of activities in an outdoor barn such as an inflatable assault course, a bouncy castle and a modular plastic block area.
The highlight of the day for myself and my son had to be the tractor ride. The staff drive a tractor around the fields with a ‘barrel train’ attached. It is so much fun and is very popular with children and adults alike! The staff are really friendly and run the tractor rides as often as there is demand for them.
To enjoy the fun day rides and activities, you did need to purchase a wrist band per child, however at around £8 it was definitely worth the money.
Maize Maze 2017
The Red House Farm Maize Maze is a must visit over the summer holidays. Created from over 500,000 maize plants, the Maze is a fabulous, fun-filled attraction, and as the aisles are wide enough for prams and wheelchairs, it's suitable for all ages and abilities.
This year the maze theme is based on Windsor Castle, marking the centenary year of the adoption of the name 'The House of Windsor'.
As well as finding your way through the maize, you can also enjoy the usual Fun Day attractions plus a few extras, such as trampolines, straw mountain and laser quest. A BBQ will also be available at the Maze over the summer.
Maize Maze 2017 Opening Times & Prices When? Wed 19th Jul - Wed 6th Sept as well as selected weekends in September
