Tatton Park is a National Trust sight in the heart of Knutsford. Set within 1,000 acres of the most beautiful deer park, there is a Mansion house, farm, gardens, playground and shops to explore. There is so much to do here that you may want to return again and again.
To enter Tatton Park there is a £6 car parking fee and then once inside you are free to roam the many acres of parkland. There are individual costs to enter the mansion house, gardens and the farm. National Trust members get the mansion house and gardens within their membership and the farm is half price.
The farm is set in a corner of the park known as Tatton Dale and it is a fully functioning farm. There are plenty of things to do for the children here including; meeting the pigs, horses and donkeys and visiting Aunt Mary’s 1930's cottage. There is a covered play barn which has peddle tractors and trailers to play with. This area is a firm favourite with my little girl. For older children there is also an adventure area which features a woodland play trail, a den building zone and a seasonal maize maze.
There is always something going on at Tatton and they hold over 100 events a year. These include flower shows, car shows, educational workshops and outdoor theatre experiences. In the school holidays they have lots on for the children and we were lucky enough to visit this half term when there was a scarecrow festival on. We have also been when they held Roald Dahl themed activities throughout the park and my favourite bit was the Matilda in the Mansion activity trail.
Feedback from the Facebook page:
"I come here often with my little boy. It has a playground near the car park, stunning gardens and farm as well as the mansion. The mansion is our favourite place to visit. It has something magical about it and each time we go we uncover something new. It is so well preserved that you can almost see the Edgerton family and their workers still there going about their lives. My son loves it here."
"Stunning grounds and gardens. House is fascinating. Nature trail is really good and the deer (100s of them) are slightly unnerving yet so cute. Well organised and a good all round day out. I did laugh at £6 per car but coaches are free. Worth joining the national trust and get some massive savings"
