Once you become a parent, advice flies at you from all sides and it can be difficult to know where to begin.
The Mothers is a brilliant web project that simplifies and shares experiences and advice from a huge variety of mothers, many of them living right here in Manchester.
Each participant is asked to respond to the same 10 prompts:
Expectations of motherhood
Reality of motherhood
Taking your child home for the first time
The best advice
The worst advice
The hardest parts of being a mother
The best parts of being a mother
Has becoming a mother changed you?
Hopes for your family
What advice would you offer to new and expectant mums?
Mothers are then photographed with their children, in their own homes and have wonderful pictures showing the reality of their lives posted along with their responses.
With over 100 participants so far, you can read a huge variety of experiences and advice. Whether you’re up in the night feeding, having a rare ten minutes chill time, or just wanting to have a nosey at peoples homes and lives, you are sure to find something to interest you.
We took part last year and it was a fantastic experience, it was so much fun to have a relaxed photo shoot at home (at no cost) and to share a bit of our lives with the world.
