The Storybarn

by Lydia (follow)
An interactive story-centre for children to discover their love of books

The Storybarn is based in Calderstones park in Liverpool and is a magical experience for both parents and children. It is an interactive story-centre for children to explore, share and discover their love of books.

It promises a thrilling world of imagination where children can embark on a literary adventure and it doesn't disappoint. The Storybarn is set over two floors and upstairs features live-reading from their story-sharers and a giant slide! The slide takes you downstairs to a craft area where you can create and craft to your hearts desire.

The Manchester Crochet Club meets fortnightly to learn crochet, meet other Manchester mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
During term time they host school sessions from Tuesday to Thursday. They hold public Storyhunters sessions every Friday at 10am, 12noon and 2pm and on Saturdays and Sundays at 10am, 12noon, 2pm and 4pm. During school holidays the centre is open to the public Tuesday to Sunday. It is important to book tickets before you go as you need an allocated time slot.

Storyhunters involves searching for new discoveries. These sessions are aimed at 3-8 year olds and here you will reading brand-new stories published in the last year, learning new things and embarking on exciting adventures with new Storybarn objects to inspire our own stories. It is a part interactive theatre, part literature-based experience where you all get to become Storyhunters.

We visited in the summer and really enjoyed the outdoor area, where we read in the sunshine and played outdoor games. Calderstones park was also a treat to explore and there was a summer fair being held there too. Combining the two makes for a great day out.

"Amazing place just magical for the little ones my daughter loves it. An enjoyable fun and educational activity to do. The staff are just fantastic. This is also a great place for parties. We had my daughters 4th party there. No messing or anything everything well organised. Best party venue we've used. Can't wait to visit again soon! X"

"What a delightful way to spend an hour and a half with the kids. My two were reluctant to get involved at the start but the hosts engaged with them so well even my cynical Minecraft-fiend 8yr old daughter got stuck in and came out beaming, asking to go again. The facilities were great and the breadth of experiences they had was surprising; creative, imaginative, funny, movement, indoors and out all immersive and fully involved. Highly recommend and will return. Well done team! Keep up the excellent work"
