[Link http://thetoyhouse.org/ The Toy House] in Urmston is a charity run community hub for the people of Trafford and the surrounding areas. They run various stay and play sessions for 0 to 4 year olds plus activities and sessions aimed at adults and older people. As well as being a specialist resource and toy lending centre, The Toy House includes a fully equipped sensory room, which provides a perfect retreat for little ones.



The Toy House has a wide range of specialised resources for visitors to enjoy and hire (for a small charge). We were amazed by the selection and all were incredibly clean and in great working order. They plan a variety of activities and experiences to suit all ages and stages of development, while working to the guidelines of EYFS. They are fully inclusive and have disabled access throughout the venue.



Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday the centre runs stay and play sessions. The morning sessions runs from 9:30 am until 11:30 am and the afternoon sessions run from 12:30 p until 2:30 pm. An annual membership costs £2 per family and you need to register to play. It is then only £3 per visit for the first child and £1 for each subsequent child. These sessions are really fab and great value for money. The children got snacks of toast, fruit and juice half way through and they had full access to the centre. They even had crafts to take part in and singing at the end.



They also run additional groups every other Monday for parents of twins and multiples. On a Thursday they have a grandparents group from 9:30 am until 11:30 am and everyone is welcome. Childminding groups also visit here regularly and they also have school visits. You can even hire the venue for events if you so wish.



The staff are so incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to cater for us during the play session. They were incredibly friendly and really engaged the children. They took great care in learning the children's names and this was really pleasing to see. A lot of the staff here were volunteers from the local community and they play an important role here.
