Wild Discovery

by Lydia (follow)
Interactive. Inspirational. Educational.

Wild Discovery is situated in Ribby Hall Village and is home to a bat house, free roaming wallabies, otters, pelicans and lots of farm animals. Although only a small centre there is lots to see and do. Combining with other attractions at Ribby Hall, such as; the play areas, swimming pool and walking trails makes a great day out.

Throughout the day have a series of activities and talks held here. Talks include a farmyard talk and an exotic bug talk. You can watch the meerkats and the otters being fed and experience at talk for both of these throughout the day. They also have an enrichment activity session in the activity room.

On selected dates they hold 'Wild messy play mornings' for toddlers. These take place on a Monday and cost 7 per adult and children of all ages are free. As part of the morning they have craft activities as well as access to the centre. Other events are also held regularly and information about these could be found here.

If you want to have a more interactive experience they offer animal encounters which are short and specific encounters. Here you can learn about enrichment and why it is so important, you can enter the enclosure and see your chosen animal up close. The 'Keeper for the day' package offers you the opportunity to work alongside a keeper, get your hands dirty and have fun. The junior package is for ages 8 - 14 and is 60 per person for an experience from 9am until 1pm.

It is worth noting that whilst we were there quite a few of the areas here were under development and there was signage displaying the areas that were being revamped.

As it is in the heart of Ribby Hall Village there were some excellent parks to play on in the area and combining this with Wild Discovery made for a great day out. There were pirate ships and zip wires and lots of swings and slides over a number of different playgrounds.
