Ziferblat is a new space that has recently opened up in Salford Quays. It features a novel idea in which everything in the building is free. This includes; the coffee, the cake, the wi-fi, everything! All you pay for is the time you spend there. This works out at 8p a minute and the spending is capped at four hours.
They have a whole host of newspapers, board games, a piano and a record player. The space is incredibly child friendly and is the only place I have felt truly comfortable meeting friends for coffee. They are also dog friendly and my little girl spent quite some time chasing a beautiful dog round the downstairs area and not one person batted an eyelid. It is a really relaxed environment and there is so much food and drink on offer, it makes for an incredibly cost effective outing.
Ziferblat is situated in the Tomorrow building within Media City and there are lots of child friendly places nearby. You could combine a visit to this space with a show at the Lowry, go shopping in the Outlet Mall, visit the Blue Peter Garden or wander round the Imperial War Museum. A perfect way to keep the children entertained.
Feedback from their Facebook page:
"Lovely open space, comfy sofas, chilled out atmosphere. Games for the kids, great choice of food and drink. Home from home!"
"We come here with my friend and her kids at the weekend. Her son is autistic and struggles with busy places. He and his sisters absolutely adore coming here and even tidying up after themselves! Thank you so much for having such lovely friendly staff and a great place to relax."
